Blind waitlists and notification lists often lead to unpredictable matches or families waiting indefinitely. Instead, when a breeding occurs or a litter arrives, Connie posts the announcement directly on our Planned Litters page detailing the sire, dam, and expected traits. We encourage interested families to bookmark our website, check back periodically, and submit a Puppy Application for that specific pairing.

We just want a family pet. Why do AKC championship titles and conformation matter?

Conformation is not about cosmetic appearance—it is the architectural blueprint for structural health, soundness, and longevity. The AKC breed standard defines the ideal physical build for a dog to move effortlessly and live without physical breakdown. When a dog has correct conformation—balanced shoulder angulation, proper turn of stifle, a strong topline, and aligned joints—their body absorbs everyday activity evenly. This means significantly less wear-and-tear on joints, reduced risk of ligament tears and orthopedic issues, and a dog that remains comfortable, mobile, and active throughout their senior years.

Where and how are puppies raised at LoCo Meadows?

Our puppies are never raised in an outdoor kennel or barn. Every LoCo Meadows litter is whelped right inside our home in our living room. From day three through day sixteen, we practice Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises to build cardiovascular resilience, stress tolerance, and enhanced immune systems. As they open their eyes and begin exploring, they are exposed to normal household sounds (vacuums, television, kitchen activity), varied textures, gentle handling by people of all ages, and outdoor excursions on our 12-acre farm. At 7 weeks of age, each puppy undergoes comprehensive temperament testing (our F.A.S.T. Focus, Aptitude, Structure, and Temperament evaluation) to ensure ideal family matching.

Both Standard Poodles and Golden Retrievers require stringent orthopedic, organ, and genetic testing prior to breeding. At LoCo Meadows, we test beyond the minimums:

• Hips & Elbows: Evaluated via veterinary radiographs submitted to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or PennHIP to ensure freedom from hip and elbow dysplasia.
• Eyes: Annual examinations by board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists (CAER / CERF) screening for juvenile cataracts and retinal disorders.
• Cardiac: Advanced cardiac auscultation and echocardiograms by board-certified veterinary cardiologists.
• Thyroid: Full endocrine panels assessing auto-immune thyroiditis.
• Sebaceous Adenitis (SA): Skin biopsies verified clear.

Because LoCo Meadows is our private family home and a working preservation facility, we welcome visitors by appointment only. To safeguard young puppies whose immune systems are still developing prior to vaccinations, in-person visits to meet litters are scheduled exclusively for families with approved applications. We are delighted to share video calls, photos, and pedigree documentation with prospective owners at any stage.

What is included with a LoCo Meadows puppy when they go home?

Every LoCo Meadows puppy goes home between 8 and 10 weeks of age with:
